Position:
We are currently looking for a Usability Analyst / UI Interaction Designer who will support multiple application development projects & IT initiatives. This person will facilitate user experience activities which includes storyboarding (UI requirements validation, screen definition, information architecture/data flow), creating wireframes & mock-ups, creating prototypes, and conducting user studies. This person should have a good understanding of graphic design, how to coordinate the UI design implementation with a technical team, exceptional communication & facilitation skills, plus the ability to train others around general Usability concepts.
Responsibilities:
- Conduct User Research (task analysis, collaborative design sessions, usability studies, field studies, etc.)
- Facilitating storyboarding sessions / Validation of UI requirements
- Development of wireframes, mock-ups and prototypes
- Create UI detail design (design specs and UI guidelines)
- Create User Interaction Models (mental models, etc)
- Work with graphic designer to finalize UI detail design
- Coordinate the implementation of the UI with a technical team
- Work closely with QA to ensure UI design is implemented correctly
- Evaluate the UI of external vendor software
- Ensure look and feel consistency in all design elements & apply the clients graphic design standards
- Train, promote, and evolve User Experience best practices throughout the IT department
Qualifications:
- 8+ years of User Research experience
- Experienced working in an Agile or Waterfall project environment
- Experienced in application UI design as well as web design
- Experience with using Morae software for user studies or another equivalent tool
- 8+ years experience in developing low and high fidelity prototypes
- Experience with the Axure RP Pro tool for creating prototypes is desired
- Understanding of a .Net and/or Java application development environment
- Experience designing mobile applications is strongly desired
- Ability to communicate clearly and efficiently
- Have worked in an environment that utilizes a structured User Experience process
- Experienced with Information Architecture
- Strong knowledge of user interface principles and UI patterns
- Graphic Design experience HIGHLY desired (HTML, CSS, and Adobe Suite)
- Works well in a team environment and can adapt to changing demands and business opportunities.
- HFI Certification is highly desired
- Applicable degrees include Human Factors/Human Computer Interaction, User Experience Design, Graphic Design, Computer Science
